I seriously thought that the bear was rip right through Sergio at the end. To be honest, it has potential, but I already hate Sergio as a character. I dunno if this is the intent, but despite being an oblivious yet nice guy, he inadvertently comes off as an completely annoying asshole, and I think his character could use some work since I find it near impossible to like him. Bear on the other hand, is alright. Nothing too much on him, since he's kinda meh, but that's the vibe I feel like he's meant to give off, so I'm cool with bear.
Honestly, numerous people have suggested this ending and I will come forward and admit that this WAS in fact the original ending that I wrote to the episode.
Bear was going to snap and leap at Sergio and I intended to freeze frame on that and role credits or soemthing. But Bear's character is kind of an anti-bear. He's extremely patient and tolerant for the bear, which explains how on earth he's friends with Sergio in the first place. If I'm going to have him snap, it certainly won't be this soon.
Also, the working title of the series was "Story of Bear" but I decided to change it to make it a bit more identifiable (i.e. googlable). If it continues, it will focus more on the exploits of bear living in the human world than it will on Sergio, who was written to be a pretty loathable (is that even a word?) character.
I understand now. I had a feeling that was how the short was going to end. In that case, might I recommend that next time you work a bit on the ending. The bear not attacking Sergio at the end seemed to be badly tacked on at the last minute. Nonetheless, I'll look forward towards seeing more of Sergio and Bear in the future, because this has great potential.
Man, are you serious? You're SUPPOSED to hate the bad guy...what is all this garbage about Sergio's character being 'near impossible to like him'. The fact that you hate him already builds on his character. Yeah...don't say you understand something when you obviously don't and then insult the writer afterward. Save yourself a little embarrassment. Peace out brown trout.
I wasn't insulting him at all. I was giving constructive criticism. My point, though, was that although it was intended to hate Sergio, I found him too detestable to even enjoy him as an antagonist. Perhaps you should heed your own advice and not act high and mighty when you had nothing to do with the discussion at all.
Oh. My apologies in which case. I had no idea you were the animator. I had no intent on being a rude jackass, but rather, what I was trying to say was that there's making someone unlikeable, and then there's overkill, in which it's near impossible to even love to hate them. I felt that Sergio had crossed over into overkill territory, but as I said before, I'm judging this too early on, so I'll just wait and see more...
